Team collaboration › Common situations
We want stronger safety leadership
The rules and procedures are on the wall. What keeps people safe day to day is whether someone speaks up when something looks wrong, and whether the leader listens when they do.
What's often going on
- People notice a risk and don't say anything, because it's easier not to. That's Polite, Not Yet Safe.
- Leaders under pressure to deliver walk past things they'd normally stop.
- Toolbox talks are delivered, and not much is said back.
What helps
- Leaders who make it easy to raise a concern, and act on it
- Practising the conversation on real site situations, hands-on
- Checking again at around 60 to 90 days, so everyone can see what's moved
For this one, we'd usually start with the Trust Pulse Check, a quick read on whether people feel safe to speak up, then a 30-minute chat about what it shows.

Do you run site-based sessions?
Yes. We've worked with engineering, construction, mining and infrastructure teams, on site and in the room.
Does this replace our safety training?
No. It sits alongside it, on the leadership and conversation side.
